Irving takes blame for Cavs' loss: 'I was just real sh---y'

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers joined Friday's Indiana Pacers as the latest team to keep the Chicago Bulls microscopic playoff hopes alive, and afterwards point guard Kyrie Irving accepted the blame.

"I was just real shitty with the basketball, that's all," Irving told reporters of Saturday's fourth quarter, when the Cavs surrendered a fourth-quarter lead to lose 105-102 to the Bulls. "I just got to do a better job of leading that second unit, especially when (LeBron James) and (Kevin Love) are on the bench ... I just got to be better with that second unit. I take responsibility for what transpired there."

Chicago's defense corralled pick-and-rolls and swarmed Irving at the top of the key, helping force him into two turnovers. Justin Holiday forced one here:

"They tried to blitz and corral or whatever," Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said. "He's got to do a better job of handling that."

The Cavs still had a chance to win at the end, but Matthew Dellavedova airballed a shot that James wished he had have taken himself.

The Cavaliers were 1-3 this season against the Bulls.
