NBA Game Summary - LA Lakers at Toronto

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Jonas Valanciunas led a balanced attack with 19 points, and Toronto downed the Los Angeles Lakers by a 94-83 count on Friday.

Lou Williams posted 18 points, James Johnson contributed 17 and Amir Johnson added 11 points for the Raptors, who clinched their second straight Atlantic Division title and put a two-game slide to rest.

"We have other goals we want to accomplish now," Williams said.

Jeremy Lin totaled 18 points and Jordan Clarkson had 14 for the Lakers, who have dropped six of their last eight games.

A turnaround jumper from Terrence Ross put the Raptors on top for good near the midway point of the third quarter and Greivis Vasquez connected from long distance on the next possession to make it a four-point edge at 61-57. Williams later converted a trey and Toronto was up 71-64, a lead which eventually stood at five heading into the final period.

Patrick Patterson's 3 capped five straight to open the fourth and the hosts led 76-66.

Wayne Ellington and Lin countered for Los Angeles to whittle the deficit down to six, Johnson hit a bucket for Toronto ahead of one from Davis, but it was as close as the Lakers came.

"When our offense started to go down, so did our defense," Lakers coach Byron Scott said. "Our guys got down on themselves."

Johnson and DeMar DeRozan hit consecutive buckets to push the lead back to double digits, and the Raptors kept the pedal to the floor. Their largest lead was 91-74 with 3:16 to play before cruising to the finish.

Lin scored 10 points in the first quarter and the visitors led by as many as 10 but headed to the second up 24-17.

Toronto finally pulled even when Johnson split a pair from the line for a 32-32 game but the Lakers refused to give up the lead. despite the Raptors tying the game on multiple points from there. Johnson hit a layup inside a minute left in the half and the hosts trailed 48-46 at the break.
