Jon Jones still incarcerated, set to appear before judge on Thursday
The legal process is in motion for Jon Jones' latest infraction.
The 28-year-old UFC light heavyweight is scheduled to appear before judge Michael A. Martinez at the Bernalillo County District Court in New Mexico on Thursday morning, according to Steven Marrocco of MMAjunkie.
Jones remains in custody after turning himself in to authorities on Tuesday as a result of the five traffic citations he received a week prior. The citations violated an 18-month supervised probation that Jones received for his involvement in a hit-and-run incident last April.
According to the official case filing, the charges against Jones include drag racing, exhibition driving, modification of exhaust systems, failure to maintain his lane, and improper display of his license plate.
Jones was caught on film getting into an ugly argument with the attending officer and he vehemently proclaimed his innocence during an appearance on "The MMA Hour."
This was the second time in Jones' probation period that he received a traffic citation. On Jan. 31, he was ticketed for driving without proper documentation. That situation was resolved with community service and a small fine and was not considered a violation of his probation.
Jones is set to rematch Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight championship on April 23 at UFC 197 in Las Vegas. His management team is confident that their client will be absolved of wrongdoing, and sources close to Jones say that the fight will not be cancelled.
