Jon Jones arrested for violating probation

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones turned himself in to the Albuquerque Police Department on Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued for parole violation following a citation for drag racing last week, according to TMZ Sports.

The report was confirmed by ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Jones revealed Monday on "The MMA Hour" that he had a run-in with the law last week. He claims he was wrongfully pulled over by an officer who cited him for drag racing, in addition to a number of other infractions, including exhibition driving and failure to maintain his traffic lane.

An emotional Jones engaged in a heated back-and-forth exchange, which was captured by the officer's body camera.

If convicted, Jones risks jail time for violating the conditions of an 18-month probation sentence stemming from a hit-and-run incident last April.

The UFC released an official statement via MMA Fighting:

UFC is aware that Jon Jones turned himself into the Albuquerque Police Department this morning for a potential probation violation stemming from a traffic stop last week. UFC has been in touch with Jones' legal team and will have no further comment until the organization has had appropriate time to gather necessary information.

Jones' highly anticipated rematch against light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is scheduled for UFC 197 on April 23, but the status of that fight could now be in jeopardy.
