Anderson Silva: 'I never used any sort of PED'

Anderson Silva is sticking by his story.

"The Spider" understands that his year-long suspension stemming from a failed drug test for performance enhancing drugs is one of the main storylines going into UFC Fight Night 84 on Feb. 27. He claims that the positive result came from sexual enhancement supplements and sedatives to help him sleep.

At a media scrum following an open workout on Thursday, Silva maintained his innocence.

"The past is the past, I didn't want to get too much into that," Silva told MMAjunkie.com. "I wanted everyone to know that I'm not a liar and unfortunately it didn't come off that way, but I always told the truth.

"I never used any sort of PED. I'm excited to get back in there and fight and, who knows, maybe even fight for a title."

Silva's comeback tour begins with a stop in London, England, to face Manchester-native Michael Bisping. "The Count" has aggressively mocked Silva's confession and accused him of cheating throughout his career.

For the most part, Silva shrugged off the criticism.

"Come on, people," Silva said. "I've been in this sport for a long time. People have said a lot of things, but once the Octagon door closes, it always changes."
