Nelson grinds out win over Rosholt in UFC Fight Night 82 co-main event

Roy Nelson slogged through a slow, ugly affair with Jared Rosholt to get his hand raised for a decision victory in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 82.

Conventional wisdom coming into the tilt suggested that Rosholt would rely on his wrestling expertise to ground the heavy-handed Nelson. Instead, "The Big Show" decided to try his hand at the stand-up game, and the result was a 15-minute fight that saw neither man landing anything substantial.

Rosholt employed an intelligent game plan for the most part. He circled away from Nelson's power right and managed to catch "Big Country" coming in on more than one occasion. The judges may have been swayed by Nelson's aggression and the few power punches he was able to land. All three scored the fight in favor of Nelson.

It was just the second win in seven fights for the 39-year-old Nelson, and was his first decision win in 15 UFC appearances.
