Report: Nick Diaz's DUI arrest his 2nd in 10 months

Eric Bolte / USA Today Sports

Last weekend's arrest of Nick Diaz under suspicion of a DUI was not the first time Diaz has been arrested under those circumstances.

Arrested on Sept. 6 at 2:20 a.m. for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a police officer, destruction of evidence and driving with a suspended licence, Diaz now finds himself with a pair of DUIs on his record in the past 10 months.

Diaz was also arrested on Nov. 20 for driving under the influence, driving under the influence with an alcohol or drug level above .08, and unsafe speed for prevailing conditions. The prior arrest was confirmed to FOX Sports by a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Court.

He subsequently missed a court date in December and ultimately surrendered on a warrant in February, only to then push back his court date multiple times, miss a motion hearing and have a bench warrant put out for his arrest. After returning to court on Aug. 21 to surrender on the warrant, an arraignment had been scheduled for Sept. 25.

Diaz is expected to be arraigned in roughly three weeks on the more recent charges, right around the same time he'll be in court for the earlier charge.

His legal troubles may put the 31-year-old's Jan. 31 fight against Anderson Silva in some degree of jeopardy, depending on the outcome of the legal process. The UFC issued a statement on the matter that can be read in the post below.
