Rousey enlists Olympic boxer Mayer to prepare for UFC 207
Ronda Rousey has sought some reputable services to prepare for the juggernaut that is Amanda Nunes.
The former women's bantamweight champion recently sparred with Olympian boxer Mikaela Mayer in preparation for her comeback bout with the reigning queen at UFC 207. Mayer represented the United States at this summer's games in Rio, where she was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Rousey's dozen conquests can attest to her grappling acumen, and her boxing has steadily improved under trainer Edmond Tarverdyan, although decorated kickboxer Holly Holm exposed her as a one-dimensional striker at UFC 193.
While "Rowdy" will undoubtedly learn from the knockout loss, sparring partners who can replicate Nunes' early storms are hard to come by.
Rousey will meet "The Lioness" on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
