Choi: I have more power than McGregor, better striking than Aldo

Doo Ho Choi has developed a reputation for ferocious finishes that stand in stark contrast to his cherubic appearance.

Now, he's adding some bark to his bite.

Speaking to reporters Thursday in Toronto ahead of his match with Cub Swanson at UFC 206, "The Korean Superboy" was asked how he sees himself matching up with the best of the featherweight division. He confidently asserted that he's superior in some key areas to both Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo, the undisputed top two at 145 pounds.

"I believe that my power is better than McGregor's," said Choi through a translator. "I know McGregor has better reach, but I can get inside of him."

McGregor recently knocked out Eddie Alvarez inside of a round to become the UFC's lightweight champion, and 18 of his 21 wins have come by KO, so that's no small claim for Choi. The 25-year-old is on an impressive streak himself, having defeated his last eight opponents via strikes.

When Choi faces Swanson on Saturday, it will be his first time facing a top-10 opponent, but that didn't stop him from declaring that he'd beat Swanson and then calling out Aldo.

"Jose Aldo has great standup, but my standup is better," said Choi.

Regardless of who's next, Choi is looking for greater recognition after going 3-0 in the UFC so far, with none of his opponents making it past the first round. The way he sees it, there are similarities between his own accomplishments and that of a certain superstar Irishman.

"If you watch my past fights, I have done exactly what Conor McGregor has done in his fights," said Choi. "He scored the knockdowns and whatnot so if you follow me in the future, you can anticipate some great and exciting fights."
