One of the UFC's best female fighters is in it for the long haul.

No. 3-ranked women's bantamweight Valentina Shevchenko has signed a seven-fight contract extension with the UFC, according to Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting. Company officials confirmed the news on Friday.

The announcement comes only a month removed from the biggest win of Shevchenko's career, a five-round unanimous decision victory over former 135-pound champion Holly Holm at UFC on FOX 20.

Shevchenko made her debut last December on just nine days notice against veteran Sarah Kaufman. The decorated kickboxer topped Kaufman by split decision before dropping a unanimous decision to future champion Amanda Nunes in her next outing.

She has been actively campaigning for a second crack at Nunes for the UFC women's bantamweight title.
