Diaz commends McGregor for rushing to rematch

Conor McGregor has faced some criticism for his decision not to take another fight before rematching against his UFC 196 opponent Nate Diaz.

That criticism isn't coming from Diaz.

The California southpaw appeared on FOX Sports' "Speak for Yourself" with Jason Whitlock and was asked if McGregor is making the right call by rushing to fight Diaz again.

"If you don't want to fight a guy who beat you, or show you're better than the guy everybody thinks is better than you, then I don't know what you're in this sport for," said Diaz. "Because that's what I'm in it for. That's what I was in it for in the beginning - to let everyone know I'm the baddest dude there is. That I'm the baddest (expletive) there is."

McGregor, who was submitted by Diaz, has faced some pressure to return to the featherweight division and defend his title, but the Irishman insists he has unfinished business.

The two are set to face off in a highly-anticipated rematch at UFC 202 on Aug. 20.
