Coach: McGregor will finish Diaz in 4th round

Conor McGregor and his coach John Kavanagh are sticking with their story that the UFC featherweight champ simply got tired in his March loss to Nate Diaz.

They'll get their chance to prove it when McGregor and Diaz have their welterweight rematch at UFC 202 on Aug. 20 in Las Vegas. Kavanagh is so confident that conditioning won't be an issue this time around, he's actually predicting a late finish as opposed to an early blowout for McGregor.

During a recent Periscope Q&A, Kavanagh was asked to pick what round he saw McGregor winning in.

"Four," Kavanagh said, according to Milan Ordonez of Bloody Elbow.

The Straight Blast Gym head coach reiterated that McGregor simply threw too many power shots in round 1 of the first Diaz encounter, which left him defenseless in the second as his gas tank emptied and he was promptly submitted.

That bitter loss has McGregor's camp focused solely on revenge, pushing his featherweight responsibilities to the side. Kavanagh refused to commit to a potential rematch with interim 145-pound champion Jose Aldo.

"Let's get this one (Diaz rematch) out of the way," Kavanagh said.
