Sounders' Jordan Morris suffers hamstring strain

The Seattle Sounders may have advanced past FC Dallas in the playoffs on Sunday, but they will now be without forward Jordan Morris, who picked up a hamstring injury and had to leave the match at half-time as a result.

The Sounders defeated Dallas 4-2 on aggregate despite losing 2-1 at Toyota Stadium and while the result was assured, it came at a cost, and Morris, who scored 12 goals in 37 total appearances this season, might miss out on the Western Conference Championship against the Colorado Rapids.

"It is a hamstring strain," Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer said of Morris' injury, as quoted by MLS Soccer.

"That’s all I can say because we’ve got to get him evaluated," he added, as quoted by the club's official website. "But he wasn’t able to continue and it was a last-minute decision upon examination at halftime by our trainers.

"We just felt that he couldn't go. Jordan felt that he couldn't go. So we had to scramble at the last minute to make a change."

Morris was also called up to Jurgen Klinsmann's 26-man squad for a pair of upcoming World Cup qualifying matches for the U.S. men's national team. But Schmetzer isn't certain if Morris will feature in either the first match against Mexico or in the next match away at Costa Rica.

"That is not of my control," Schmetzer said. "What is obviously the most important thing is the health of the players. I don't think that with the games the national team has coming up they will want to take an injured player, but it is early and he will be evaluated by our staff and the United States training staff as well."
