Klinsmann names 26-man USMNT squad for Mexico, Costa Rica matches

Gary A. Vasquez / USA TODAY Sports

Jurgen Klinsmann announced Sunday the 26-man United States national team squad set to take on Mexico and Costa Rica in the coming international window, with Michael Bradley leading a group of veterans through these two World Cup qualifying fixtures.

The Toronto FC captain is joined by teammate Jozy Altidore and several other MLS players currently in the middle of the 2016 postseason, with Klinsmann also calling in Colorado Rapids midfielder Jermaine Jones to replace Real Salt Lake enforcer Kyle Beckerman.

Klinsmann announced Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard would be his first choice in between the sticks, with the 37-year-old helping his club defeat the LA Galaxy by saving a pair of penalties in a shootout.

Tottenham youngster Cameron Carter-Vickers earned his first nod and will look to make his national team debut alongside other uncapped players Ethan Horvath, William Yarbrough, and Lynden Gooch.

Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Timmy Chandler also received a call after an extended absence from the national team, with Klinsmann crediting his good form for the nod.

Jordan Morris, Christian Pulisic, and DeAndre Yedlin highlight some of the younger players making up the 26-man squad, which takes place at a historically kind MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus on Nov. 11 before travelling to Costa Rica four days later.
