The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to fill the league's final vacant managerial job no later than Monday, sources tell ESPN's Buster Olney.

The Dodgers, who parted ways with manager Don Mattingly following another early-round playoff exit this season, have reportedly narrowed their search to former major leaguers Dave Roberts and Gabe Kapler.

Though Roberts managed one game last season for the San Diego Padres, neither candidate boasts experience managing at the MLB level.

Kapler, 40, managed the Single-A affiliate for the Boston Red Sox in 2007, and recently oversaw player development in the Dodgers organization. Kapler's candidacy is said to be bolstered by his interest in baseball analytics, and his strong ties to the Dodgers' president of baseball operations, Andrew Friedman, from their time together with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Roberts, meanwhile, reportedly made a strong impression on Friedman and the Dodgers front office during his interview for the position. The 43-year-old was the Padres' bench coach last season, but is not expected to return to the organization after failing to receive an offer to manage the club.

The Padres, who were among several teams this offseason to hire a new manager, named Andy Green as their next skipper in late October.
