It pays to come up big in the postseason.
Kansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar, who hit a rare inside-the-park home run in Game 1 of the World Series, has provided a piece of baseball history to one fan with deep pockets.
The home run ball, which was retrieved and authenticated by Major League Baseball, sold on the league's auction website for $19,200. Escobar's inside-the-parker was the first in the Fall Classic since 1929, which boosted the value of the ball.

For comparison's sake, the ball used to make New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter's last out went for more than $24,000.
