Alcides Escobar may not have won another MVP award, but he's leaving the postseason in the record books.

The Kansas City Royals shortstop set a record for the longest single postseason hitting streak at 15 games with his double in the 12th inning of Game 5 on Sunday.

Escobar broke the record previously shared by Marquis Grissom and Manny Ramirez.

After hitting .257/.293/.320 in the regular season, Escobar was a force out of the Royals' leadoff spot, ending the playoffs hitting .329/.347/.514 with eight extra-base hits in 16 games.

The all-time playoff hit streak record belongs to Derek Jeter (1998-99) and Manny Ramirez (2003-04), who both strung together 17-game runs over consecutive playoff appearances.
