Freese's walk-off HR helps Angels keep pace

It's no secret David Freese plays his best baseball once the temperature drops and the leaves begin to change color.

The 2011 NLCS and World Series MVP is no stranger to coming up huge in clutch situations, and he did just that Saturday night against the Seattle Mariners, belting a walk-off solo shot to deep center field to give the Los Angeles Angels a 3-2 victory.

"It's huge," Freese told reporters. "Every game counts - we always try and preach that no matter what time of year it is - but this was big. Knowing Felix was on the mound, you just battle and try to stay in the ballgame."

Freese's blast helped the Angels keep pace with the Houston Astros, who snapped a three-game slide with a 9-7 victory over the Texas Rangers, in the American League wild-card chase. Houston's advantage remains just a half-game over the streaking Angels, who have reeled off four straight wins.
