VIDEO: Cano rips single for 2,000th career hit
Robinson Cano's second-half surge has helped power him into exclusive company.
Cano's eighth-inning single Wednesday off Kansas City Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera gave the Seattle Mariners' second baseman 2,000 career hits, making him just the 14th player to accomplish the feat during his first 11 seasons.

The six-time All-Star infielder has rebounded impressively from a disastrous first half that saw him hit just six homers with a .660 OPS. Since the break, however, Cano has looked every bit the superstar player the Mariners signed to a $240-million contract prior to last season.

Signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 2001, Cano established himself as one of the best two-way players in baseball while wearing pinstripes. During his 11 years in New York, Cano finished inside the top six for AL MVP voting four times, while claiming two Gold Gloves and five Silver Slugger awards.
