Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones exited Thursday's finale against the Kansas City Royals after slamming into the wall at Kauffman Stadium while attempting a defensive play.

Jones suffered from whiplash symptoms after the collision, but X-rays on his wrist and a concussion test revealed no major damage.

"His vision was a little [blurred] ... Most of it was whiplash. I don’t think there’s any head trauma concussion-wise. Dr. [Keith] Meister will take a look at him in Texas tomorrow and we’ll see where we are with it," Orioles manager Buck Showalter told reporters. "Any time Adam says anything is bothering him, you better multiply it times two because he’s a tough nut."

Jones initially stayed in the game after trying to chase down a Ben Zobrist double in the first inning, but was removed in the top of the third.

He was replaced in the lineup by infielder Paul Janish, with Gerardo Parra sliding into center field defensively.

The Orioles superstar said he came out of the game because he "didn't feel like himself," and will be re-evaluated Friday, although he should slot into the team's lineup.

"That’s one of [the hardest hits I’ve taken]," said Jones. "I don’t come out of the game much, especially once the game starts. I just wasn’t me. And hopefully I feel a lot better tomorrow."
