Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports
Carlos Gomez hit a pair of milestones with a single swing of the bat Tuesday.
Down two runs to the Texas Rangers in the sixth, Gomez hit his first home run as a member of the Houston Astros in his fifth game with club. The solo shot was also the 100th home run of the 29-year-old's career.
Gomez was traded to Houston by the Milwaukee Brewers on July 30 after a widely reported deal that would have sent him to the New York Mets fell through. The Dominican Republic native was batting .266/.327/.420 heading into Tuesday's game.
