Fantasy: 3 players who shouldn't be on the waiver wire

Every Sunday, theScore's MLB editors will shed light on three potential targets to claim on the waiver wire in your fantasy league.

Raisel Iglesias, RHP, Cincinnati Reds

Owned in 41 percent of Yahoo leagues.

If Iglesias is still available on your wire, not enough owners are paying attention. The Cuban defector had a breakout August after plying his trade in the minors for parts of this summer, working a stingy 2.27 ERA across six starts in what's been the best month of his career. The 25-year-old rookie has 23 strikeouts in his last 14 innings - including a historic start Aug. 23 - and is riding a streak of six straight quality outings. Iglesias' worst enemy down the stretch, however, could be himself. Entering this year, the Reds right-hander had pitched just seven innings since leaving Cuba in November 2013. Expect the Reds to move him into relief before the season is out, but go ahead and pick up his final few starts if you can.

Delino DeShields, OF, Texas Rangers

Owned in 20 percent of Yahoo leagues.

The Rangers center fielder has been on a tear the last week (.348/.423/.652) and could be a very intriguing piece hitting out of the leadoff spot in Texas over the final month of the season. DeShields won't win you a league as an outfielder in 5x5 leagues (two home runs, 27 RBIs), but his second-base eligibility and ability to run (six steals in August) make him a no-brainer pick up with the Rangers chasing a playoff berth. The speedy 23-year-old hasn't posted an OPS below .700 in any full month he's played this season, and although his average won't carry your team (.264 since the All-Star break), it certainly won't sink it, either.

Drew Hutchison, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays

Owned in 40 percent of Yahoo leagues.

Hutchison's inexplicable season (13-2, 4.87 ERA) has bounced him back-and-forth between "must-have sleepers" to "can't get rid of him soon enough" lists. Although he hasn't quite returned to the former status, he most certainly is worthy again of ownership. The 25-year-old has now turned in three straight quality starts after a run of miserable results through the first half of the season. Hutchison's splits are still jarring - he has a sparkling 2.46 ERA inside the homer-happy confines of the Rogers Centre and an unsightly 9.00 mark on the road - but he does pitch for the league's highest-scoring offense, after all. Perhaps Hutchison's brief stop in Triple-A refocused the young right-hander, as he turned in his best start in months Saturday (seven strikeouts over seven one-run innings). Hutchison's next start? At home against the slumping Baltimore Orioles. Go get him.
