Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera departed Friday's game versus the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth inning with a left calf strain.

While running to second base, Cabrera pulled up limping and slowly made his way off the field and immediately into the clubhouse. The Tigers revealed that he suffered a left calf strain.

"We're really pending another opinion, before we really pinpoint exactly what it is. It's the calf, not the Achilles, at this point," manager Brad Ausmus told reporters following the bittersweet 8-6 win.

Ausmus admitted he's nervous as the he awaits the results of an MRI.

"I was concerned," Ausmus said. "When Miggy says he can't play, you know it's serious, because Miggy plays through anything.

"I'm not optimistic he's gonna avoid the DL."

The two-time MVP is in the midst of another impressive season, entering the night hitting .345/.453/.575 with 15 home runs, 16 doubles, and 53 RBIs in 76 games.

Cabrera, who underwent offseason ankle surgery in October, became the 12th player in Tigers history to record 900 RBIs after a first-inning single.
