Cardinals' Lynn dealing with back cramps, expects to make next start

Jeff Curry / USA TODAY Sports

Lance Lynn wasn't his usual dominant self on Friday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher was tagged for two homers by Kendrys Morales and five earned runs in the 5-0 loss to the Kansas City Royals, but it turns out he wasn't 100 percent healthy.

Lynn was bothered by back cramps while warming up prior to the start, but labored through six innings of work.

"There are going to be games where you don't feel good and you just have to go out there and see what you can do," Lynn said after the game. "When it was all said and done, two pitches cost me five runs."

The right-hander will be re-evaluated Saturday, and expects to make his next start.

Lynn is 3-4 with a 3.46 ERA in nine starts.
