Kang gets suspended prison sentence in DUI case

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Jung Ho Kang received an eight-month suspended prison sentence in his recent DUI case, reports Jeeho Yoo of Yonhap News.

He won't serve any jail time if he keeps his record clean for two years, according to Yoo.

Kang, who admitted his guilt in February, is free to return to spring training for the Pirates, after being forced to stay in Korea until the verdict was made.

Dash-cam footage showed the 29-year-old driving into a street barrier.

His blood alcohol level was 0.084, above the legal limit of 0.05, and his license was later revoked because it was his third DUI arrest.

The Korean infielder has since agreed to participate in an alcohol treatment program.

Kang appeared in 103 games for the Pirates last season, hitting .255/.354/.513 with 21 home runs and 62 RBIs. He previously finished third in 2015 NL Rookie of the Year voting.
