Report: Rangers have spoken to Rockies about outfielders
The Colorado Rockies have a surplus of outfielders, and the Texas Rangers might be interested in them.
The Rangers, who lost Ian Desmond to free agency, have spoken to the Rockies about their bevy of outfielders, sources tell Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.
If Texas were to add one, they could potentially shift Shin-Soo Choo to the designated hitter slot.
As it stands, the Rockies have quietly developed one of the deeper outfields in baseball. Colorado currently has Charlie Blackmon, Carlos Gonzalez, David Dahl, Gerardo Parra, and the part-time duties of Desmond.
It's unclear who the Rockies are willing to part with, though Blackmon has been the most common name to appear in trade talks. But while Colorado would like to send off one of its outfielders, don't expect it to come cheap.
One executive from a rival team told ESPN's Joel Sherman the Rockies are looking for an "Adam Eaton-type" return in any trade that would involve Blackmon.
Of course, the Washington Nationals acquired Eaton from the Chicago White Sox for a king's ransom that included Lucas Giolito.
