The Colorado Rockies added to their organizational depth on Wednesday by agreeing to terms with infielder Josh Rutledge on a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training, the team announced.

Rutledge, a versatile 27-year-old who has played shortstop, second, and third base during his five-year career, spent the past two seasons with the Boston Red Sox.

He only appeared in 67 games with Boston, but did manage to hit .276/.338/.358 with seven doubles and 13 RBIs.

Rutledge began his career with the Rockies before he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels and then to the Red Sox in an eight-month span between December 2014 and July 2015.

Over the course of five big-league seasons, Rutledge owns a .262/.312/.397 slash line with 20 home runs, 13 triples, 102 RBIs, and a .709 OPS.
