After Justin Verlander was denied the American League Cy Young award on Wednesday, despite earning the most first-place votes from the Baseball Writers' Association of America, his fiance, Kate Upton, had something to say about it.

Upton's tirade obviously turned some heads, including the New York Daily News' Mark Feinsand, who asked Upton to "pipe down."

Verlander didn't take too kindly to Feinsand's words, and made sure to tweet at the reporter Thursday, defending Upton's actions.

Verlander finished second in AL voting for the Cy Young behind Boston Red Sox right-hander, and former teammate, Rick Porcello.

The 33-year-old Verlander had a resurgent 2016 season, posting a 16-9 record with a 3.04 ERA and 1.00 WHIP across 227 2/3 innings of work.
