The Atlanta Braves made a big move Saturday, acquiring outfielder Matt Kemp and cash considerations from the San Diego Padres in exchange for outfielder Hector Olivera two days before the Aug. 1 non-waiver trade deadline.

The deal comes exactly one year after the Braves acquired Olivera from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a three-team swap involving the Miami Marlins.

Braves general manager John Coppolella confirmed Atlanta will receive $10.5 million from San Diego.

Kemp becomes yet another player dealt by the Padres this season. They've already unloaded James Shields, Drew Pomeranz, Fernando Rodney, Andrew Cashner, Melvin Upton Jr., and James Loney.

The 31-year-old's tenure in San Diego lasted just a season and a half, in which he accumulated 46 home runs and 169 RBIs to go along with a .264/.301/.462 slash line.

Although Kemp still produces offensively, his poor defense (-21 defensive runs saved since the beginning of 2015) made him a 0.8 WAR player during his time in San Diego.

The slugger is still owed the remainder of his 2016 salary of $21.75 million, as well as $65.25 million over the next three years, although the Dodgers are on the hook for $3.5 million of his salary annually until the end of 2019.

Fantasy Fallout: Kemp trade opens door for young Padres

Olivera played just six games for the Braves this season. He's currently serving an 82-game suspension for an alleged domestic incident. The suspension's scheduled to end Aug. 2.

During his time in the bigs, the 31-year-old Cuban owns a .245/.296/.378 line with two home runs and 13 RBIs across 108 plate appearances.

Olivera signed a six-year, $62.5-million deal, which included a $28-million signing bonus, with the Dodgers in 2015.
