Betts exits with right knee soreness
Boston Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts made an early exit from Friday's clash with the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park, departing after four innings with right knee soreness, the club announced. He is considered day to day.
Betts, who was replaced by Michael Martinez in the top of the fifth, got things started for the Red Sox in a big way before exiting, smacking his second leadoff home run in as many days to give Boston a quick 1-0 lead. Two innings later, the 23-year-old grounded out softly to third base in his final at-bat before coming out of the game.
The only Red Sox player to appear in all 94 of Boston's games thus far, Betts carried an impressive .306/.345/.527 line (126 wRC+) into Friday's contest, and is now 7-for-12 (.583) over his last three contests.
