Report: Bruce being considered by Dodgers

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is one of the hottest hitters in baseball, and is drawing attention from a number of teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers.

With the return of Andre Ethier uncertain due to a right tibia fracture and Joc Pederson remaining the team's only left-handed hitting outfielder, the Dodgers are considering the addition of Bruce, sources told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Bruce has been on a tear over the past month, hitting .292/.331/.642 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs, and could field a nice return for the rebuilding Reds, who own one of the worst records in baseball at 28-47.

However, Los Angeles may have competition for the 29-year-old's services from the likes of the Cleveland Indians, who are reportedly interested as well, although one advantage the Dodgers have is that Bruce can't block a trade to the City of Angels.

Bruce has been a popular target for clubs in need of midseason pop, and had been on teams' radars all season long. He was nearly dealt to the Toronto Blue Jays as part of a three-team trade involving the Reds and Los Angeles Angels last February before a medical issue with one of Toronto's players halted the deal.

The right fielder is hitting .280/.329/.575 with 16 home runs, six triples, and 57 RBIs.
