Not long after Mookie Betts smashed his third homer of the game against the Baltimore Orioles, Xander Bogaerts earned himself a pat on the back, too. The Boston Red Sox shortstop extended his hitting streak to 24 games with a bloop single to left field in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday.
Bogaerts is now tied with Nomar Garciaparra for the 15th-longest hitting streak in Red Sox history, and is five games shy of tying teammate Jackie Bradley Jr.'s recently snapped streak of 29 straight contests with a base hit.
