The defending World Series champion Kansas City Royals love gold, and they plan on keeping it as part of their uniforms on select dates for the remainder of the 2016 campaign.

Kansas City announced Tuesday it's received permission to continue wearing the jerseys and hats with gold trim that were worn in the team's opening two games of the season.

"These uniforms are representative of a huge accomplishment for our franchise and after seeing the reception they received, not only from our fans, but equally as important, our players, we decided to seek permission to at least wear them periodically during the 2016 season," said Kevin Uhlich, Royals senior vice president of business operations. "We'd like to thank Major League Baseball, Majestic, and New Era for their efforts in allowing us the opportunity to enjoy these one-of-a-kind uniforms throughout this year."

Kansas City will wear the uniforms during every Friday home game for the remainder of the season, beginning April 22 against the Baltimore Orioles.
