The Reds took two of three from the Cardinals in St. Louis April 7-9. Cincinnati shut out the Cardinals in the both of its wins; the most times the Reds have ever shut out St. Louis over an entire season is four (done four times, last time in 1963). They blanked the Cardinals just once last season.

Cincinnati pitchers have given up at least one home run in seven consecutive games. The last time they had a longer such streak was August 9-18, 2016, when they allowed 1+ homer in nine straight contests.

ST. LOUIS (AP)  St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina has picked off 48 runners in his 14-year career, and his heads-up play in the sixth inning of the Cardinals' 7-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday may have been his finest work.
Molina short-circuited a Reds rally by catching Eugenio Suarez napping at third with the bases loaded in a 3-1 game.
