The Indians have won the first two games in a best-of-7 series for the first time in franchise history. Each of the last six teams to go up 2-0 in the ALCS won the series (three sweeps, three in six). Cleveland is the first team to take a 2-0 lead in a best-of-7 series when scoring two runs or fewer in both games since the Yankees in the 1950 World Series.

The Blue Jays dropped the first two games of the ALCS for the second season in a row. Toronto defeated the Royals in Game 3 of the 2015 ALCS and the A's in Game 3 of the 1989 ALCS, the only other time it trailed a best-of-7 series 2-0. The Blue Jays are the first team to total just one run through the first two games of a best-of-7 series since the Yankees in the 2001 World Series.

Francisco Lindor is batting .500 (4-for-8) through the first two games of the ALCS, with three of Cleveland's four RBI in the series. After going 2-for-4 in Game 3 of the ALDS, Lindor is the first Indians player with three straight multi-hit games in one postseason since Omar Vizquel in Games 3-5 of the 1998 ALCS.

Josh Donaldson leads the Blue Jays in hits (three), RBI (one), and batting average (.375) through the first two games of the ALCS, and either leads or is tied for the lead among all players this postseason in runs (five), hits (eight), and doubles (six). Donaldson's six doubles are the most in a single postseason in Blue Jays franchise history.

Trevor Bauer allowed three runs on six hits over 4.2 innings in Game 1 of the ALDS. In 13.0 innings against Toronto this season, Bauer allowed just two earned runs and seven hits while striking out 16. He earned the win on July 1 after throwing 5.0 scoreless innings of relief in Cleveland's 19-inning victory.

Marcus Stroman will be making his first appearance since allowing two runs on four hits over 6.0 innings in the AL Wild Card Game 13 days ago. Stroman had two no decisions versus Cleveland this season, pitching to a 1.29 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 14.0 innings. The Blue Jays have won each of Stroman's last three postseason starts, the second-longest streak in franchise postseason history (Juan Guzman, seven).
