The Indians defeated the Blue Jays, 3-2, at Progressive Field on Sunday, taking two of three over the weekend from Toronto, and finishing up their season-long 11-game homestand with a mark of 8-3. Cleveland is 71-51 on the season -- its best record through 122 games since going 75-47 in 1999.

Oakland dropped a 4-2 decision at U.S. Cellular Field yesterday, losing two of three to the White Sox over the weekend, and falling to 6-16 in its last 22 games overall -- tied with the Angels for worst in MLB since July 29. The A's have tallied two or fewer runs nine times this month (tied for second most in the majors).

Cleveland swept three from Oakland last month at Progressive Field, outscoring the A's by a combined 19-6 in the series. Dating to 2013, these clubs have played 10 games in Oakland, each winning five times.

Carlos Carrasco allowed five runs (four earned) in 6.2 IP last Wednesday against the White Sox, garnering a no-decision in the contest. Carrasco is 1-0 with a complete game and 1.69 ERA in two career starts versus the A's.

Andrew Triggs went a career-long 5.2 innings and allowed just one run (earned) six days ago against the Rangers, but was saddled with a no-decision in the quest for his first career MLB victory. Triggs has appeared in 21 games (three starts) this year, and the A's are 1-20 in those contests.

Including Carlos Carrasco (115), the Indians have five different pitchers with 100+ strikeouts in 2016 -- tied for most in the majors. Oakland is the only MLB team without a 100-strikeout pitcher this season.

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Trevor Bauer will try to send the Cleveland Indians to Texas with some momentum when he takes the mound Wednesday in the series finale against the Oakland Athletics.
Bauer won't be pitching in the four-game series between American League division leaders that begins Thursday. The Indians have lined up Josh Tomlin, Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar.
