The White Sox beat the Cubs, 3-0, last night at U.S. Cellular Field, sweeping two straight from the Northsiders, and winning their fourth game in a row overall. The White Sox have seven shutouts in 2016 -- tied with the Angels and Indians for most in the AL.

Buoyed by winning six of these clubs' last seven series at Wrigley Field, the White Sox are 13-6 (.684) on the road against the Cubs since the beginning of 2009 -- best of any MLB team during that span (minimum 10 GP).

Anthony Ranaudo is set to make his first start in a White Sox uniform tonight after being acquired from the Rangers on May 12 for Matt Ball, and spending 2+ months in the minors with the Charlotte Knights. Ranaudo, who will be facing the Cubs for the first time tonight, is 4-4 with a 5.10 ERA in nine career MLB starts.

Jason Hammel went 5.0 innings and allowed two runs (both earned) last Friday night in Milwaukee, earning the win, and improving to 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two outings since the All-Star break. Hammel is 1-1 with a 4.21 ERA in four career starts against the White Sox.

Adam Eaton went 1-for-3 with a homer last night, and enters tonight batting .357 with two home runs and six RBI during his current four-game hitting streak. Eaton is just 1-for-10 in three career games vs. the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The White Sox were 30-30 through 60 games, 40-40 through 80 games and are now 50-50 through 100 games in 2016. The Southsiders have been .500 on 12 different occasions this season -- tied for second most in baseball.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Two teams being cautious with injured players, getting acquainted with new ones and perhaps still shopping for upgrades, will hook up for a fourth time in four days on Sunday when the Washington Nationals take on the San Francisco Giants.
The Nationals have won two of the first three in the battle of National League division leaders, but the Giants are the ones coming off a 5-3 win Saturday.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP)  With his team chasing the Chicago Cubs for the best record in baseball, Washington manager Dusty Baker is willing to do whatever it takes to keep the Nationals close - even if it means pulling closer Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth inning.
While it might not be the move he cherishes, it's one Baker may make even more down the stretch as Papelbon struggles through one of his roughest stretches of the season.
