The Blue Jays enter Monday's game having taken four of six from the Yankees this season, winning both previous series by 2-1 margins. Toronto is now 17-8 versus the Yankees since the beginning of the 2015 campaign.

The Yankees defeated the Rays at Tampa Bay on Sunday, 2-1, despite being limited to just one hit. It was New York's first victory when generating no more than one hit since shutting out Cleveland, 1-0, on July 10, 1914, in a game that lasted only six innings and the Yankees batted in five frames.

The Blue Jays have won their last six games when playing on Memorial Day, as well as nine of 10 since 2006. It's the longest winning streak on Memorial Day since St. Louis won eight straight between 1999 and 2006 (based on final year of streak).

After permitting no more than one run in each of his previous three starts this season, Ivan Nova surrendered four runs over 6.2 innings against the Blue Jays last Wednesday. Nova is now below .500 (5-6) with a 5.63 ERA in his career when facing Toronto in any capacity.

TORONTO (AP)  With eight scoreless innings, Marco Estrada gave the Toronto Blue Jays exactly what they needed: a night off for a bunch of tired bullpen arms.
Estrada (3-2) won consecutive starts for the first time this season, Ryan Goins homered and Toronto beat the New York Yankees 4-2 on Monday night for its fifth win in six games.
