St. Louis was blown out, 10-2, by Washington at Nationals Park yesterday, finishing up its weekend series splitting four games in our nation's capital. The Cardinals have allowed 10 or more runs six times in their last 33 games -- most of any MLB team since April 25.

Milwaukee beat Cincinnati, 5-4, at Miller Park on Sunday, winning its second straight series for the first time of the season, and improving to 5-1 in the last six games overall. The Brewers are 9-5 at home this month (5-8 at home in April).

The Cards took two of three from the Brewers in these clubs' first meeting of the season (April 11-14 at Busch Stadium), outscoring Milwaukee by a combined 21-7 in those contests. St. Louis has shut out Milwaukee six times since the beginning of 2015 (most of any Brewer opponent).

Carlos Martinez allowed a season-high six runs (all earned) in 5.0 IP last Wednesday against the Cubs, taking the loss, and dropping to 0-5 with a 6.84 ERA in his last five starts. Martinez is 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA in three career starts vs. the Brewers at Miller Park.

Junior Guerra pitched 5.0 innings of shut-out ball last Wednesday in Atlanta, but was saddled with a no-decision for his efforts. Since being called up from Colorado Springs on May 3, Guerra has started five games, and the Brewers are 5-0 in those outings.

Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-2 with and three RBI yesterday, becoming the first MLB player to record three straight games with at least two hits and three RBI this season, as well as the first Brewer in team history to accomplish the feat. The last MLB player with four straight multi-hit, three-RBI games was Frank Thomas in 1997 (July 10-13).

Jaime Garcia made the necessary adjustments to bounce back from his shortest outing in nearly four years for the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran southpaw hopes much doesn't change from his history against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Garcia seeks his fifth straight win over the Brewers when the visiting Cardinals go for a sweep at Miller Park on Wednesday.
