The Twins and Astros split six games last season, just as they did the year before (2014). And both clubs are 3-3 when playing the other on its home field over the past two seasons. Minnesota is 22-16 in the all-time series.

By dropping all three games to Detroit this weekend, the Twins remain winless (0-15) against teams that currently sport .500 or better records. Minnesota is 7-3 versus sub-.500 opponents.

Houston salvaged the final game of its three-game set at Oakland this weekend with a 2-1 victory on Sunday. The Astros will now seek to win back-to-back games for the first time in 2016. They're 0-7 following wins so far this season.

Joe Mauer went 3-for-5 on Sunday to reach base (via a hit, walk or HBP) for the 25th time in 25 games this year. The streak is the third longest to begin any season since the Twins moved to Minnesota in 1961, trailing only Kent Hrbek in 1982 (33 games) and Jacque Jones in 2005 (27 games).

Prized prospect Jose Berrios is coming off his major league debut last Wednesday, when he lasted 4.0 innings and gave up five runs. Through 45 pitches, Berrios had allowed just one hit in seven at-bats (.143), but permitted a .500 average (5-for-10) thereafter.

Dallas Keuchel has lost his last two starts while surrendering at least five earned runs in each (8.25 ERA over the two starts). Keuchel, who is now 2-3 in 2016, didn't suffer his third defeat last season until June 20.
