The Dodgers have controlled the season series against the Padres in 2015, winning 11 of 16 games played with 55 extra-base hits in those games. Dating back to the beginning of 2013, the Dodgers are 16-9 against the Padres at Dodgers Stadium.

The Padres avoided losing their fourth consecutive game last night by beating the Brewers, 3-1, behind an 11-strikeout performance from Ian Kennedy. San Diego has lost 12 of its last 19 games and are scoring just 3.5 runs per game over that span.

The Dodgers won the final game of a four-game series with the Giants yesterday, 3-2, to split the four-game series and tie the Mets' record at 89-70. Los Angeles has lost nine of its last 13 games and has just a .644 team OPS in that span.

Last Friday against the Diamondbacks, Casey Kelly lost his first start since 2012, allowing six earned runs and six hits over 5.0 innings. In his only career start against the Dodgers, Kelly gave up five earned runs and six hits over 4.2 innings while striking out six and walking two batters.

Alex Wood lost his last start on Sunday in Colorado, giving up a season-high eight earned runs and 11 hits over 5.1 innings. In his four home starts for the Dodgers, Wood is 2-2 with a 2.36 ERA (7/26.2), 21 strikeouts, four walks, and a .183 opposing batting average.

Andre Ethier is batting .409 (9-for-22) with two doubles, two triples, a home run, four runs scored, seven RBI and a 1.277 OPS over his last eight games. Ethier is batting .320 (55-for-172) with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 66 games at Dodgers Stadium this season.

He might have won a fourth NL Cy Young Award in many other seasons, but Clayton Kershaw could finish as low as third in this year's voting and behind a teammate even if he reaches an unprecedented personal mark.
Before heading into the postseason, Kershaw will try to become the first in 13 years to register 300 strikeouts but will likely have an abbreviated start Sunday against the San Diego Padres.
