The Diamondbacks and the Astros are meeting in Arizona for the first time since the teams split a two-game series at Chase Field last June. Since the beginning of last season, Houston is 5-2 against Arizona with a 2.67 ERA (19/64.0) and a .216 opposing batting average.

The Astros won the rubber match of their three-game series with the Mariners on Wednesday, 7-6. Houston maintains a one-game lead over the Angels and the Twins for the second wildcard spot going into the final series of the regular season.

The Diamondbacks picked up their fourth-straight win last night and completed their three-game sweep of the Rockies, 8-6, after scoring four runs (including an inside-the-park home run by Phil Gosselin) in the bottom of the 7th. Arizona has won nine of their last 13 games.

Dallas Keuchel won his 19th game of the season on Sunday against the Rangers, giving up one earned run and just two hits while striking out 10 in 7.0 innings. Keuchel looks to become the Astros' first 20-win pitcher since Roy Oswalt won 20 games in 2005.

Rubby De La Rosa won his most recent start last Friday in San Diego, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out two and walking three batters. In three career starts against the Astros, De La Rosa is 0-1 with a 9.20 ERA (15/14.2) with 12 strikeouts and eight walks.

Evan Gattis (27), Chris Carter (24), Luis Valbuena (24), Colby Rasmus (22), and Carlos Correa (21) all have hit 20+ home runs this season -- the Astros are the only team in the league to have five players with 20+ home runs. It is the first time Houston has had five players with 20+ home runs since 2004 (Lance Berkman -- 30, Jeff Bagwell -- 27, Jeff Kent -- 27, Craig Biggio -- 24, Carlos Beltran -- 23).

The Houston Astros' special season won't end with game 162. Whether they'll head into next week as a playoff team still remains to be seen.

Collin McHugh earned his 19th victory, Colby Rasmus homered twice and the Astros beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Saturday night to clinch at least a tie for the second American League wild card.
