National League Game Summary - San Francisco at Colorado, Game Two

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Daniel Descalso hit a two-run homer and finished with three RBI as the Colorado Rockies beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 to earn a split of Saturday's doubleheader at Coors Field.

Brandon Barnes had two hits and knocked in a run for the Rockies, who fought back but came up short in the opener, losing 10-8.

David Hale (1-0) was called up to make his season and Rockies debut in the nightcap and pitched 6 2/3 innings. He gave up three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits with no walks, helping Colorado end San Francisco's first eight- game win streak since September 2011.

"He gave us a huge boost. Great performance by David," said Colorado manager Walt Weiss.

Gregor Blanco had two hits and scored a run for the Giants, but was thrown out trying to tag up from second to third on a flyout in the ninth.

Yusmeiro Petit (1-1) made his first start of the season for the Giants following 13 relief appearances. He allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings.

Brandon Crawford doubled in the second and eventually scored on a wild pitch by Hale.

The Rockies grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Barnes doubled home Ben Paulsen, who walked, and Michael McKenry, who singled ahead of Barnes, scored on a groundout by Descalso.

San Francisco appeared to reclaim the lead in the fifth on a two-run single by Nori Aoki. The Rockies challenged a safe call on a play at the plate and it was overturned. McKenry received a throw from right-fielder Carlos Gonzalez and tagged Casey McGehee as he made a feet-first slide, ending the inning.

In the sixth, a two-out blast to right-center field by Descalso put Colorado up 4-2.

Blanco scored on a throwing error by Gonzalez in the seventh, but Paulsen drove in D.J. LeMahieu with a two-out single in the home half of the inning to make it 5-3.

After Blanco was thrown out at third in the ninth, the Giants managed to bring the tying run to the plate again. But John Axford got Hunter Pence to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game and record his sixth save.
