The Rockies lost, 3-2, to the Cubs at Wrigley Field yesterday, dropping two of three in Chicago, and losing their seventh consecutive road series in the process. Colorado has scored two or fewer runs just 28 times in 2015 -- fewest of any NL club.

St. Louis lost, 1-0, at home to Cincinnati on Wednesday night, and has now been shut out two straight times for the second time this season (also May 21-22). The last time the Cardinals were blanked in three consecutive games was October 2-3, 1976 (doubleheader on October 3).

Colorado took two of three from St. Louis in these clubs' first series of this season at Coors Field (June 8-10). Dating to the beginning of 2010, the Cardinals have won 14 of the last 17 meetings with the Rockies at Busch Stadium.

Chris Rusin allowed five runs (four earned) in 5.0 innings last Saturday vs. the Reds, taking the loss, and snapping his five-game quality start streak in the process. Rusin is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in two career appearances (one start) vs. the Cardinals.

Carlos Martinez threw eight innings of shutout ball last Saturday vs. the Braves, earning the win, and improving to 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last five starts overall. Including a win over the Rockies earlier the year (June 10), St. Louis is 15-3 when Martinez takes the hill to begin a game this season.

Carlos Gonzalez went deep yesterday in Chicago, giving him eight homers and 16 RBI in his last seven games overall. Gonzalez is batting .337 with three home runs and 13 RBI vs. the Cardinals since the beginning of 2010 (24 games).

Jaime Garcia's worst career ERA is against the Colorado Rockies mostly thanks to one disastrous outing at Coors Field, though he also has been poor in two home losses to them.
He won't get a victory no matter how well he pitches if the St. Louis Cardinals continue their alarming trend of providing him with no support.

Wacha pitched seven crisp innings, Matt Carpenter homered for the third time in two games and the Cardinals beat the Colorado Rockies 7-0 on Friday night.
