The Padres beat the Marlins, 3-2, at Petco Park on Sunday, sweeping the weekend series while scoring exactly three times in each triumph. San Diego is 43-19 when scoring three or more runs this season (4-33 in all other games).

New York defeated the Dodgers, 3-2, in 10 innings at Citi Field on Sunday, and has put together back-to-back wins for the first time since the All-Star break. The Mets are 6-2 (.750) in extra-inning games this year -- tied for third best in MLB.

San Diego took two of three from New York in the clubs' first meeting of the season at Petco Park (June 1-3), and has won seven of the last 11 meetings with the Mets overall. That said, the Padres haven't won a series at Citi Field since 2009.

James Shields pitched five innings of shutout ball against the Giants in his last outing, but got a no-decision when the Padres' bullpen gave up seven runs. Shields (1-0, 2.01 ERA in last four starts) is 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two career starts against the Mets.

Including allowing one earned run in a five-inning no-decision against the Nats in his last outing, Noah Syndergaard is 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in his last five starts. Syndergaard, who allowed a career-high seven runs in his first career appearance vs. the Padres on June 2, leads all MLB rookies who have pitched at least 70 innings in 2015 with a 2.97 ERA.

Matt Kemp is batting .380 (19-for-50) with five homers, 12 RBI and eight multi-hit performances in his last 14 games. Kemp is a career .361 hitter at Citi Field since it opened in 2009 -- second highest batting average of any player all-time (minimum 70 AB).
