Houston and San Diego will be meeting for the first time since 2012 when the Padres won the season series, 5-3. Both clubs will be playing their first Interleague series of the season.

The Padres snapped their four game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Dodgers on Sunday. San Diego went 9-11 in Interleague play in 2014, while Houston went 5-15.

The Astros have won seven of their last eight games and will be looking to extend their current win streak to four in a row. Houston has scored at least five runs in each of its last five wins.

James Shields, who is 14-9 in 33 career Interleague starts, is 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA in four career starts against Houston. Shields' 1.74 ERA against the Astros is the lowest ERA in his career against any opponent (minimum 3 games).

Collin McHugh has won eight consecutive starts, one shy of Roy Oswalt's team record of nine set back in the 2002 season. McHugh is 0-2 with a 3.54 ERA in three career Interleague starts and will be facing San Diego for the first time ever.
