MLB Game Summary - Detroit at NY Mets

Port St. Lucie, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Harvey made his much-anticipated return to the mound on Friday in the New York Mets' 5-4 Grapefruit League win over the Detroit Tigers.

Harvey toed the rubber for the first time since August 24, 2013 when he was shut down due to an elbow injury that eventually required Tommy John surgery, forcing him to miss the 2014 season.

The powerful right-hander needed just 25 pitches to get through two perfect innings of Friday, striking out three. He hit as high as 99 on the radar gun, doing so on his second to last pitch.

Matt Reynolds gave New York the win with a walk-off homer in the ninth, his first blast of the spring.

Wilmer Flores, vying to become the Mets' everyday shortstop, ended the game 2- for-3 and Matt den Decker, who is tying to earn a spot on the roster as a back-up outfielder, drove in two runs.

David Price started for the Tigers and tossed two innings, striking out two and walking one, in his first appearance of the spring.
