MLB Game Summary - Seattle at Miami

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Henderson Alvarez tossed a two-hit shutout as the Miami Marlins took down the Seattle Mariners, 7-0, in the second of a three-game series.

Alvarez (1-2) didn't issue a walk and struck out four in his third career shutout and complete game. He also went 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.

Marcell Ozuna hit a three-run home run and drove in four, while Casey McGehee also drove in a run for the Marlins, who have won three of four.

Roenis Elias (1-2) gave up six runs -- four earned -- on eight hits with five walks and five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings for the Mariners, who have dropped five straight and seven of eight.

The Marlins scored a run in the third on McGehee's RBI single, and made it a 2-0 game in the fourth as a passed ball allowed Adeiny Hechavarria to cross the plate.

Hechavarria singled with one out in the sixth and moved to second on a Donovan Solano groundout. Alvarez then smacked a single to center to score Hechavarria. After Christian Yelich walked, Ozuna clubbed a pitch over the wall in left for a 6-0 lead.

Alvarez didn't need all that help, as he was perfect through five innings until Dustin Ackley led off the sixth with a single. Mike Zunino then hit into a 5-4-3 double play and Roenis Elias grounded out to end the frame.

Alvarez retired the Mariners in order in the seventh and eighth innings, with Ozuna giving the team another run on an RBI single in the eighth.

Zunino doubled with one out in the ninth, but Alvarez set down the next two batters to polish off the shutout.
