American League Game Summary - Oakland at Seattle

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Yoenis Cespedes hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the eighth inning to lift the Oakland Athletics to a 3-0 win over the Seattle Mariners in the rubber match of a three-game set at Safeco Field.

Josh Donaldson added a solo homer in the ninth for the Athletics, winners in six of their last seven.

Dan Otero (2-0) picked up the win after recording the final two outs of the seventh inning. Starter Scott Kazmir allowed just two hits and fanned nine over six scoreless frames before exiting with tightness in his triceps.

"He wanted to go back out but you have to be careful with a guy like that," A's manager Bob Melvin said of Kazmir.

Sean Doolittle stranded a runner in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Charlie Furbush (0-1) was saddled with the loss after surrendering Cespedes' homer in the eighth. Mariners starter Chris Young tossed six scoreless innings, giving up four hits and three walks.

"I think he is close," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said of Young. "I saw his breaking ball coming today. When that pitch comes for him, he's going to be pretty tough."

Jed Lowrie walked to open the eighth and was replaced on the bases by Daric Barton. Cespedes then crushed a hanging slider into the Oakland bullpen in left field.

Donaldson cracked a solo homer with two outs in the ninth to account for the final difference.

In the sixth, Seattle's Brad Miller crushed a potential homer to right field, but A's outfielder Josh Reddick made a leaping catch at the wall to rob him of at least an extra-base hit.
