Pittsburgh won the season series versus Milwaukee 12-7 in 2013 marking the first time the Pirates have won the season series with the Brewers since 2006 (9-7). The Pirates even won five-out-of-nine at Miller Park where they hadn't won a season series since 2004 (6-4) and lost 22 straight between 2007 and 2010.

The Pirates have won 2-of-3 in all three series they have played this season and are 6-3. Pittsburgh has seven home runs in its last two games after hitting just four home runs in the first seven games of the season.

The Brewers have won six straight sweeping three games from the Red Sox at Fenway Park then sweeping three games from the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. The six games is Milwaukee's longest winning streak since winning nine straight April 14-23, 2013. The Brewers are 7-2 (or better) through nine games for the first time since 1998 (7-2), and Milwaukee has not started a season 8-2 (or better) since starting the 1987 season 10-0.

Pedro Alvarez has five home runs in the first nine games. Alvarez did not hit his fifth home run of the 2013 season until May 1 (Game No. 28 of the season) and he went on to lead the NL in home runs with 36 (tied with Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt).

Carlos Gomez has 14 hits, six for extra bases, during Milwaukee's six-game winning streak. Ryan Braun had 10 RBI in the just-concluded series in Philadelphia. It was the most RBI in a single series in Braun's career.
